President Bola Tinubu met with General Ibrahim Babangida, the former military president, on Monday at his hilltop home in Minna, Niger State.

The meeting took place behind closed doors with Governor Bago present while the leaders talked about the state of the country.

President Tinubu had headed directly for the former military chief's hilltop home in the nation's capital from the Minna site of the official launch of Governor Umar Bago's agricultural mechanization projects.

Although the meeting's specifics were unknown at the time this article was filed, though learnt the discussion, which lasted more than an hour, touched on issues related to the nation's current state of affairs.

Speaking earlier at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport's remodeled domestic terminal's commissioning and the beginning of the agricultural mechanization revolution for food security, Tinubu had urged state governments to accept the wage award, stating that the National Executive Council (NEC) would do the same.

He stated that blaming previous administrations for Nigeria's socioeconomic and security issues was not in line with his values, as he was dedicated to making the correct decisions to restructure the nation's finances and continue on the correct course for advancement.

Tinubu, who took over from his party man, Muhammadu Buhari last May, said his concern was not to blame the past governments but to embark on the right reforms to set the nation on the path of prosperity.

He said, “When you read the papers, some of us are confused whether to abuse the present or the past (governments) or make excuses for the future,” the President told the gathering which was graced by agriculture enthusiasts.

“(It's) not in my dictionary,” the President stated matter-of-factly, adding that his focus is to “take action now, do your best, re- engineer the finances of the country, and stay ahead of the right path. Those who may be complaining now have to understand that perseverance and consistency will make a nation great.”
