Tinubu And Akpabio Meet Following Ningi's Senate Ban
Currently, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Senate Deputy President Jibrin Barau, and a few other legislators are meeting with President Bola Tinubu.
The meeting is being held at the State House in Abuja and comes hours after Senator Abdul Ningi, who represents Bauchi Central, was suspended from the senate.
The senator from Bauchi was suspended by the upper legislative house after he claimed that the 2024 budget had been inflated by N3 trillion.
Ningi made the accusation and said that the budget had caused “huge damage” to the north and the entire country over the weekend, sparking outrage.
A budget of 28.7 trillion was approved by the national parliament for the fiscal year 2024.
The lawmakers increased Tinubu's planned N27.5 trillion by N1.2 trillion.
Ningi declared on Monday that he did not fear being suspended from the Senate.
“If it is a cross that I have to carry, I will carry it. I'm not afraid of anything. I believe in one God and I believe that power is transient,” he had said.
“I am not scared of any issue like suspension - I have been out of the senate for eight years and people had to force me back.”
Ningi, who arrived on Tuesday with paperwork in hand, asserted that he had proof to support his statements.
