More Pro-Wike Supporters Dismantle Fubara's Structure
Hardly four days have passed since Achor Nna, the council member for Nyesom Wike's ward in the Federal Capital Territory, resigned to back Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Wike's allies have now dismantled their organization in support of the governor of Rivers.
The most recent group to join Fubara's side consists of twelve men who served as Local Government Coordinators for the Grassroots Development Initiative (GDI), a political pressure group that has been running for governor of Rivers State since 2015 and was crucial in organizing a large-scale grassroots campaign for the FCT minister.
The local government areas that the Wike comes from, Ogu/Bolo, Port Harcourt City, Opobo/Nkoro, Gokana, Bonny, Ahoada West, Ahoada East, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni, Oyigbo, Asari-Toru, Akuku-Toru, and Obio/Akpor, are all represented by the coordinators.
Collins Onunwo, the former coordinator of the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, who led the delegation to the Governor at the Government House in Port Harcourt, stated that they had made the decision to resign from their leadership roles in GDI in order to safeguard, uphold, and advance the interests of Rivers State and its citizens.
