Customs Reopens The Kebbi Kamba Land Border
The Kamba land border has been reopened by the Comptroller of the Nigeria Customs Service, Iheanacho Ojike, in accordance with President Bola Tinubu's direction for the urgent reopening of the land border with the Niger Republic.
This was revealed in a statement released on Saturday by Mohammed Tajuddeen Salisu, the Kebbi Customs Public Relations Officer.
Alhaji Mamuda Fana, the district head of Kamba, stakeholders, and other sister agencies were present when the border was reopened. The CAC stated that Kamba is a critical border that contributes significantly to the creation of Kebbi revenue.
He went on to say that the goal of the border reopening was to facilitate lawful trade that would benefit the development of the country, not to grant approval for the entrance of goods that were illegal and would jeopardize national security and the economy.
Furthermore, Ojike emphasized that as long as stakeholders import only what is allowed by current Customs laws, make the proper declarations, and pay the appropriate duties to the Federal Government coffers, officers and men of the Command are always prepared to facilitate legitimate trade and act within the bounds of the law to simplify trade across the Kamba Border seamlessly.
Considering the paucity of food in the nation, he emphasized in his conclusion that food grains are still not allowed to be exported outside of the nation.
