The waterways in Lagos, the forest in Ekiti... Forget about what you read on social media platforms, kidnapping is not on the rise in Nigeria, NPK Spokesperson

Kidnapping isn't on the rise in Nigeria. Forget about what you read on social media says NPF PRO, Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

In an interview with Channels Television, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Olumuyiwa Adejobi assured the public that kidnapping incidents are not increasing in the southwest of Nigeria, despite mounting concerns over the country's rising rate of kidnappings and increased insecurity.

Adejobi noted that the topography and waterways of the area were likely responsible for the reported cases, pointing out that water routes connect states like Delta, Port Harcourt, and Bayelsa.

He went on to question the veracity of numerous internet reports, asserting that a sizable portion of abduction cases circulated on social media are either manufactured or staged. In order to understand the subtleties of crimes like kidnapping, kidnapping, armed robbery, organized crime, and planned assassinations, Adejobi urged the public to approach discussions on security matters with an open mind.

The PPRO's remarks aim to clear up misunderstandings and promote a more sophisticated comprehension of the security scenario in the Southwest.
