On Monday night, around 10:30 p.m., Okafor and Iheanacho were taken into custody at Aina Street.
According to the source, during a fight with another man who went by the name Oludotun, Okafor—who had claimed to be a corporal in the Nigerian Army—was discovered carrying a jackknife alongside Iheanacho.
The police source said, “Okafor, who claimed to be a Corporal in the Nigerian Army, was seen with a jack knife alongside one Darlington Chidebere Iheanacho fighting one Oludotun. The latter reported that the soldier was chasing him with a jack knife and threatened to kill him.
“After the suspects were arrested and searched, a fake Nigerian Army identity card bearing CPL Geoffrey Emmanuel with serial no. 140861, a jack knife, and pepper spray were recovered from them.”
Yahaya and Umar were also detained in a related incident that occurred only a few hours apart for purportedly wearing black combat boots and camouflage pants that were part of the Nigerian Army uniform.
However, the source revealed during questioning that the suspects were thought to be imposters because they had not revealed their true identities or the circumstances surrounding the acquisition of their uniforms.
