Niger Probes Pupil's Use Of Abusive Language In Debate
The government of Niger promises to punish the school for a student's use of “vulgar language” in a viral debate.
In response to a student using “vulgar language” during a debate, the principal and teacher of Kassim Primary School in Agaie LGA have been promised to look into the matter and face appropriate disciplinary action by the Niger State Government.
The student, identified as Abdulkabir Abdulkadir, is seen speaking in the viral video during a debate, opposing a motion that would have made voting in Nigeria mandatory.
The Niger State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education expressed disapproval at the development in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Jibrin Usman-Kodo.
As stated in the statemen, “The ministry observed with dismay the disturbing content of the video, where it was evident that the student had been coached to use violence and vulgar language in his presentation.
“The Commissioner, has vowed to investigate the incident further and take appropriate disciplinary action against those responsible for coaching the student to use such language.”
