Islamic Cleric Asks Muslims To Attack President Tinubu's Wife

An Islamic cleric from Sokoto has expressed regret for saying in a widely shared video that First Lady Remi Tinubu should have been killed because she is an unbeliever and a pastor.

He acknowledged that his reading and comprehension of the scriptures were incorrect and that he ought not to have made such a divisive and incendiary remark.

The cleric is heard declaring in a widely shared video that President Bola Tinubu's victory was the result of a fraud involving the Muslim/Muslim ticket.

According to the cleric, the president's wife “should be put to death as provided for in the Quran because she is an infidel.” But he offered no Quranic chapter or verse to back up his assertion.

“Now, Tinubu, his wife is an infidel. As an infidel, she is a leader among the infidels.

“God's judgement says she must be killed. She's a pastor... a leader of infidels (Christians); Allah says they must be killed...,” he said.
