Azemhe Secures The Ticket For Edo NNPP Governorship Candidate
Dr Azemhe Azena, NNPP Edo State Gubernatorial Candidate |
Dr Azemhe Azena, was a contender for the Labour Party’s gubernatorial ticket in the upcoming September 21, 2024, election in Edo State, who officially resigned from the party and joined NNPP.
The New Nigeria People's Party, or NNPP, has announced Pastor Azemhe Azena as their candidate for the Edo State governorship on September 21, 2024.
Azemhe secured the party's gubernatorial ticket by garnering 211 votes overall, defeating three rival candidates, in the Benin City primary held on Friday.
Azemhe had left the Labour Party last month due to allegations that the party's chairman for Akoko-Edo Local Government had mistreated him and his allies while his campaign team was in the area.
However, in order to fulfill his political dream of leading Edo State, he left and joined the New Nigeria People's Party.
Peter Okoeguale has 100 votes, Balogun Engealeyeme Sunday has 17 votes, and Sebastian Iyere has 25 votes.
Azemhe would now compete against candidates from other political parties for the Dennis Osadebey Avenue government house after emerging as the party's nominee.
Asue Ighodalo, Olumide Akpata, and Senator Monday Okpebholo of the APC, PDP, and Labour Party, respectively, will be his opponents in the contest.
Paul Obazele, a veteran actor in Nollywood and Director of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and Bishop Akhalame of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) are two more candidates vying for the governorship.
