The Anambra lawyer, Adachukwu Okafor, who allegedly abused her 11-year-old maid has surrendered herself to the police and will be arraigned.

The Anambra lawyer Adachukwu Okafor, who is suspected of violently kidnapping her 11-year-old maid, Happiness Nwafor, has turned herself in to the police and will now appear in court.

The attorney turned herself in to the Anambra State Police Command in Awka on Friday, February 16, 2024, according to a statement made by Chidinma Ikeanyionwu, the media assistant to Ify Obinabo, the Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs.

Okafor was suspected to have gone into hiding after allegations emerged that she used various objects, like a broken bottle, knife, and electric iron, to harm her 11-year-old maid following an incident between the latter and her daughter.

The development occurs four days after the lawyer was given a N2 million bounty by Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, the Minister of Women Affairs, for allegedly absconding.

According to Obinabo, the suspect will be arraigned before the Children, Sexual, and Gender-Based Violence Magistrate court in Awka the following week. Happiness Nwafor, the victim, will soon be released from the hospital, which is a significant step in her healing. In the meantime, there is relief.
