A new era for Kogi State begins as Governor Ododo takes office
Kogi State's fifth democratically elected governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo of the All Progressives Congress (APC), took office on Saturday.
Judge Josiah Mejabi, the Chief Judge of Kogi State, administered the oath during the historic ceremony, which took place at the Muhammadu Buhari Civic Centre in Lokoja in the presence of dignitaries and politicians.
The event started with Deputy Governor Joel Salifu Oyibo taking the oath of office, to thunderous applause from the large audience, according to Persecondnews.
The historic event reached its pinnacle when Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo took office as governor after winning the election in November 2023.
The occasion was made more colorful by Vice President Kashim Shettima's presence, who was representing President Ahmed Bola Tinubu.
The magnificent parade held in Ododo's honor and his first salute were among the highlights of the inauguration. This symbolic action demonstrated his pride and commitment to guiding the state into a prosperous future.
Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the former governor, formally turned over the reins to Ododo, the state's most recent accountant general, in a heartfelt show of goodwill.
A new era for Kogi State has begun with the smooth transfer of leadership and power, as Governor Ododo takes the helm to seize the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.
Ododo pledged to bring Kogi State's citizens' quality of life back with a “revitalized focus” and a vision of growth and development.
