Dangote Refinery To Import Crude From US
Dangote refinery is gearing up to bring in crude from the US in the next few months
The Dangote refinery is getting ready to import crude from the United States within the next few months.
The $20 billion Dangote oil refinery started producing diesel and aviation fuel a few weeks ago, after experiencing years of construction delays.
The refinery is obtaining domestic crude through a supply agreement with the trading arm of the state-owned Nigerian National Petroleum Co.
The first crude delivery to the facility took place on December 12, 2023, and the sixth cargo was successfully delivered on January 8, 2024
Shell Plc's trading unit sold Nigerian Agbami crude, which was the first cargo to arrive at the plant. More Nigerian barrels, including the country's Amenam, Bonny Light, and CJ Blend streams, came next.
According to statements from the Dangote Group earlier this month, the new massive plant is designed to handle not only domestic feedstock but also other African crudes and supply from further afield, including the US and Saudi Arabia.
According to a report published over the weekend in The Guardian, which quoted Dangote himself, the refinery is anticipated to start producing gasoline by March.
It is anticipated that the refinery will produce 9 million liters of jet fuel, 11 million liters of kerosene, and 27 million liters of diesel.
