Toxicology On Mohbad's Body Ongoing In US, Lagos Tells Coroner
The toxicology test his body was being conducted in the United States of America
Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, was an Afrobeat singer, who died on 12th September.
The coroner looking into the circumstances surrounding the death of Afrobeat singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, was informed by the Lagos State government yesterday, Wednesday, November 22, 2023, that the toxicological test on his body was being carried out in the United States of America.
This was revealed to Magistrate Adetayo Shotobi by Lagos State attorney O. Akinde in response to requests from attorneys representing other parties in the inquest regarding the reason the autopsy report was not yet complete.
In response, Akinde stated that specialists in the US were doing the most important part of the autopsy to ascertain the reason of death for the deceased music icon.
He said, “The toxicology test, which has to do with the internal body, is being done in the US.”
The coroner became curious about why the toxicology was conducted overseas given that toxicology labs exist in Nigeria as a result of the development.
Akinde informed the coroner that Lagos State made the decision to conduct the procedure in the United States due to the nature of many substances that are purportedly consumed or injected by the deceased, as well as the desire to avoid any controversy surrounding the autopsy report upon its eventual presentation.
