FG Completes Repairs To Reopen The Third Mainland Bridge
“We are pleased to announce that parts of the Third Mainland Bridge which were closed last month will reopen today 21st December, 2023 by 6 pm”
Following a month-long closure for maintenance, the Federal Government has reopened the Third Mainland Bridge.
In order to ensure improved connectivity and safe travel, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, declared that sections of the bridge that had been closed would reopen.
Thanking Nigerians for their patience during the closure, Osiyemi underlined the government's dedication to public safety and infrastructure maintenance.
The ramps that connect Oworoshoki to Adekunle and Lagos-Island (Adeniji Adele) to Adekunle needed to be repaired, so that's why the closure started on November 1.
The Third Mainland Bridge, which links Lagos Island and the mainland, is the second-largest bridge in Africa.
“Following essential maintenance, the entire bridge is now fully accessible to the public, ensuring smoother connectivity and safe commuting,” the commissioner added.
He commended Nigerians for their “patience during the temporary closure,” adding that the government understood the inconvenience the closure may have caused.
