Court Rejects Matawalle's Lawsuit Claiming Ownership Of Official Zamfara Vehicles

Federal High Court in Sokoto has ruled against former Zamfara State Governor Bello Matawalle, instructing him to return official

A lawsuit brought by former Zamfara State Governor Bello Matawalle about the ownership of about fifty automobiles purportedly owned by the Zamfara State government was dismissed by the Federal High Court in Sokoto.

Bello Matawalle, the former governor of Zamtara State, lost the lawsuit in which he asserted ownership of government vehicles that he had taken upon his resignation in May of last year.

Matawalle's ownership claims were dismissed by the court, which declared that the vehicles remained the property of the Zamfara State Government.

The vehicles were taken from Matawalle's houses by the Zamfara State Police Command in June after he was given a five-day ultimatum to return official vehicles that he had taken while leaving office. The court's ruling follows this action.

As per the court's ruling, the police raided Matawalle's homes in June and confiscated the cars.

The current administration has nothing to drive as the prior governor and his cabinet members stole all state-owned official vehicles.

The Zamfara State administration had asked for the cars to be returned, but all of their requests had been denied, therefore a court order was issued to get them back.

Matawalle filed a second lawsuit in the same court when the cars were found, attempting to uphold his basic right to possess property, which included the aforementioned cars.
