Erol Bulut, the manager of Cardiff City, has disclosed Jamilu Collins' decision to skip Nigeria's next friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique.

Collins was one of the 25 players named by Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro for both contests.

However, because of concerns over his fitness, the left-back was unable to accept the invitation.

Boavista defender Chidozie Awaziem has been called up in his place.

"Collins will get injured if he leaves for the international break," Bulut told Wales Online.

"Neither side wants that. The club doesn't need it, the national team doesn't need it, we have to protect him."

The 29-year-old missed practically the whole previous season's campaign due to a cruciate ligament injury.

This season, he has made nine appearances for Cardiff City and has contributed one assist.
