PROCEEDINGS ARE STARTED BY THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION PETITION TRIBUNAL
The presidential election petition tribunal has begun to hear cases In Abuja.
Recall that the pronouncement of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as the winner of the February 25 presidential election is being contested by Peter Obi of the Labour Party, LP, and his counterpart in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar.
According to reports, Atiku is requesting that the court order the electoral board to hold a new election in response to alleged anomalies at voting locations during the presidential election.
For his part, Obi said that Tinubu was unable to gain the majority of legitimate votes or even one-fourth of the popular vote in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Additionally, he claimed that Tinubu and his running companion, Kashim Shettima, were unable to run for office due to anomalies in the way the election was conducted.
