Nigerians Are Cautioned By The EFCC About False Scam Alerts From Fraudsters

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has warned Nigerians to be cautious of the actions of dishonest individuals using a fictitious EFCC Help Desk to issue scam alerts.

The commission states that the scam alerts may take the shape of phony calls that pretend to be from its help desk.

The 'Scam Alert' spreading on social media was bogus, according to the Commission's spokesperson Wilson Uwujaren, who clarified this in an Abuja statement.

In order to clear up any confusion, he stated that the EFCC does not have a desk like that. He also stated that any material purportedly coming from the EFCC Help Desk was not actually from the EFCC.

The spokesperson cautioned against the authors' usage of EFCC.

The spokesman issued a warning that the Scam Alert's creators' usage of the EFCC suggests that they have ulterior motivations.

"It is important that the public is put on notice, as the commission will not be liable should anyone become a victim of what is obviously a scam," he emphasized.

According to the statement, the commission recommended the general public to exercise caution and confirm any unconfirmed information with the anti-graft organization.
