China tops the list of nations with the biggest reserves (measured in both US dollars and gold), followed by Japan, Switzerland, the USA, and India in the top five, with countries like Cuba, Estonia, Cyprus, Yemen, and South Sudan at the bottom of the list.
Reserves are money that central banks transfer to one another on a global scale in exchange for gold or a globally recognized currency, such as the US dollar or the euro.
