EPL: TODD BOEHLY HAS BEEN ADVISED NOT TO EXTEND THE CHELSEA MIDFIELDER'S CONTRACT
| Todd Boehly |
Former captain of Aston Villa, Gabby Agbonlahor, has asked the management of Chelsea, led by co-owner Todd Boehly, not to extend the contract of midfielder Mason Mount.
Agbonlahor asserted that Mount is not exceptional and is not performing well enough to merit Boehly offering him a new deal so he can stay at Chelsea.
As his future at the west London club has been up for debate, Mount has been a player in the news lately.
The England international has been heavily rumored to be leaving the Blues and moving to Liverpool this summer.
Mount's Chelsea contract is slated to expire in 2024, and his negotiations with the club have not gone well.
According to rumors, Mount is now employed by Chelsea on an £80,000 weekly salary and would prefer to make about £200,000 weekly.
"He has scored 27 goals in 129 appearances. He's not fantastic, is he? He's not. The stats show that he is not. He's an okay player, but he is not outstanding," Agbonlahor told talkSPORT.
"Look at Arsenal. [Martin] Odegaard has got 14 goals this season. Mason Mount has scored 27 in 129 games. He's not adding enough to the team to warrant a £200,000-a-week new contract. He's not doing enough to warrant a new contract."
