AKPABIO VISITS ROYAL APPROVAL FOR HIS CANDIDACY FOR SENATE PRESIDENT

Akpabio meets the Ooni of Ife to obtain royal approval for his candidacy for Senate President

Godswill Akpabio, a former Niger Delta minister and current senator from Akwa Ibom's northwest, visited Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, on Saturday.

When the 10th national parliament is inaugurated in June, Akpabio is one of the top senators vying to become the new senate president.

The governor of Ebonyi state, David Umahi, declared on Saturday that he has endorsed Akpabio in lieu of continuing with his bid for the Senate.

Akpabio will be the next president of the Senate, according to Kano governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

The senate candidate for president was accompanied during the visit by Barau Jibrin, a senator who represents Kano North, and Umahi.
