According To Oyetola, Osun Is Still An APC Stronghold
Adegboyega Oyetola, the immediately-preceding governor of Osun State, has urged party members to remain faithful, claiming that the party is still well-liked by the state's residents.
Then Oyetola urged APC members to work with the committee Prof. Isaac Adewole is leading to reposition the party in the state.
The former governor made the call two days after the Supreme Court upheld Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party as the winner of the most recent governorship election, who is currently in office.
Oyetola argued in a statement on Thursday that even if the APC had lost control of Osun, it still held sway there.
The party must then be repositioned for enhanced productivity, effective and efficient service delivery, and for the benefit of everybody, he continued, so all hands must be on deck.
"Despite the challenges of the July 16 2022 governorship election, the number of persons who voted for our party in that election significantly improved from what we recorded in 2018. This clearly shows that our party, the APC, is still popular and remains the party to beat in Osun, any time, any day.
"The Osun electorate again demonstrated their love for the APC in the last presidential election as they gave our President-elect 343,945 votes, despite the intimidation, violence and killings that characterised that election," Oyetola said.
He further said, "But we must sustain the love the people of Osun have for the APC. This is why we are repositioning the party. I, therefore, urge you all to cooperate with the committee as this is the only way to further build the party and reposition it ahead of future elections."
