EL-RUFAI WARNS OF IMPENDING INSECURITY ON MAY 29

Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai warned that if security forces do not step up their efforts, robbers and terrorists will exploit the transition phase to carry out murderous attacks across the country, particularly in the North West and Northern regions.

El-Rufai made the announcement at the presentation of a security report by the Kaduna state government in the state capital on Wednesday.

In the event of heightened terror in the remaining days of the current administration and beyond, he called for increased security operations against bandits and terrorists.

According to the analyzed 2022 annual and first quarter 2023 security reports, 1,266 and 4,973 people were killed and kidnapped in 15 months, respectively.

"We appeal for an escalation of security operations over the 39 days remaining till the end of the tenure of this administration and beyond so that the change of baton at the federal level does not result in a dangerous lull that criminal outlaws can exploit", he stated.

According to MON DIARIES, following the general elections, bandits and terrorists upped their killings in Kaduna, Benue, and Zamfara, among other states.

On May 29, President Muhammadu Buhari and state governors will hand over power to the incoming administration.
