COURT ORDERS FARUK YAHAYA, CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF, TO BE ARRESTED IMMEDIATELY.


General Faruk Yahaya, the Chief of Army Staff, has a warrant for his arrest issued by the High Court of Minna, Niger State, for suspected contempt of court.

The ruling was given by Justice Halima Abdulmalik, the state's top judge, who also issued an arrest warrant for Major General Stevenson Olugbenga Olabanji, the commandant of Training and Doctrine Command Minna.

According to Abdulmalik, the order came after a case was heard under Order 42 and Rule 10 of the Niger State High Court Civil Procedure 2018.

Justice Abdulmalik also declared: "The order is commuting the Chief of Army Staff, General Faruk Yahaya and the Commandant Training and Doctrine Command Minna, Major General Stevenson Olugbenga Olabanji, to be kept in Minna Correctional Custody for contentions of the order of this court on 12 October 2022.

The case was postponed to December 8, 2022, by the presiding judge.
