SOME YOUTHS IN ANAMBRA WANTS PETER OBI TO RENOUNCE HIS PRESIDENTIAL BID

Peter Obi

Anambra State's youth coalition has urged Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party's (LP) presidential candidate, to give up his bid and team up with progressive forces in the South East to negotiate a better political future for Igbo.

According to the Coalition of Anambra Youth Leaders, there are concerns that Obi's insistence on running for president will have a detrimental impact on Igbo and improve the prospects of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to keep control of the federal government.

The youth coalition stated that the APC experiment has been disastrous for the nation and that all efforts must be directed toward saving Nigerians from the party. It added that another four years of the APC could completely overtake Nigeria.

Igbo have a stronger chance of gaining power at the federal level through the Peoples Democratic Party, according to Dr. Chinedu Ekwealor, the coalition's national leader, who was speaking to reporters at a press conference in Awka (PDP). He asserts that Obi should rethink the detrimental effects of his own ambition on the future of the Igbo people and withdraw his support for the party for which he ran as vice president in 2019.

Dr. Ekwealor asserted that Obi's LP had no chance of winning the presidential election on a mathematical basis and added that emotions would not result in the appropriate numbers needed to meet the legal requirements for a winner declaration. Even though he acknowledged that it is natural for people to be moved by Obi's aspirations, the young leader insisted that feelings don't decide elections. Better statistics do.
