FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HAS SET ASIDE N470 BILLION TO MEET ASUU'S DEMANDS

President Muhammadu Buhari has stated that N470 billion has been set aside in the 2023 budget for university revitalization.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), which has been on strike since February, has among its demands funding for the revitalization of public universities.

Buhari renewed his appeal to university lecturers to show a better appreciation of the country's current economic situation and return to the classroom while presenting the N19.76 trillion 2023 budget estimates to the joint session of the National Assembly on Friday.

However, the president stated that universities must find alternative sources of funding rather than relying solely on government funds.
