The suspect, 38, was apprehended on Wednesday. Michael Essien, 38, and his son were killed on September 21, and he has been charged with two counts of murder and one count of tampering with evidence.

On Tuesday, September 20, Fadairo is accused of shooting Essien multiple times outside a strip mall in the 5500 block of El Camino Del Rey and Chimney Rock.

According to a press release from the Houston Police Department, investigators learned that the victim met Fadairo at the location and that the two spoke briefly, even arguing, before he shot the victim. According to investigators, Fadairo admitted to knowing Essien for about 30 years.

Fadairo allegedly then entered Essien's black Chevrolet Traverse and fled the scene with the boy in a third-row car seat.

Officers say they discovered the SUV around 7:10 p.m., broke the window, and discovered the 2-year-old victim inside, who was unresponsive.

The boy's cause of death has yet to be determined. According to the probable cause statement, police believe the boy died from heat exhaustion.

Fadairo allegedly provided police with a statement "admitting to shooting Essien, claiming Essien owed him money and claiming no knowledge of the boy in the back seat. Admits deleting incriminating text messages between himself and Essien from his cellphone "based on the probable cause statement
