LATE CHIEF M.K.0 ABIOLA'S EX-WIFE CHARGED WITH ASSAULT

Prof. Zainab, activist and late Chief M.K.0 Abiola's ex-wife, is charged with assaulting a police officer in Abuja for refusing to do her menial house chores

Following their arrest for assaulting a female police officer, Inspector Teju Moses, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Baba, has ordered the prosecution of a legal practitioner and human rights activist, Prof. Zainab Duke Abiola, and her domestic staff, which included the house maid, Rebecca Enechido.

The third suspect, a male who is currently at large, will also be arrested and prosecuted. The IGP also strongly condemned the grievous assault on the female police officer by her principal, Mrs Abiola, in a statement issued by the force PRO, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, and directed the proper prosecution of the case in court.

According to the statement, Professor Abiola, a Mbaise-born activist, assaulted her orderly in the company of some accomplices on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at her residence in Garki, Abuja, because the orderly refused to violate professional ethics by performing menial and domestic chores at her home.

According to reports, Professor Abiola was previously married to late businessman and politician Chief MKO Abiola, "it is pertinent to clarify that the suspect, Prof. Abiola, who name-drops the IGP, his family members, and other officers in the top hierarchy of the Force has no acquaintance with the Police in any form as erroneously peddled on social media.

"The inspector-general of police, who similarly ordered the withdrawal of all police personnel attached to the professor, expressed consternation at the fact that an individual who claims to be an advocate for human rights could stoop so low to v#olate the rights of another individual, a police officer tasked with ensuring her protection."
