IN EDO, A DOCTOR WAS ARRESTED FOR KILLING A FRIEND AND STEALING HIS CAR
Abbas Adio, a 36-year-old medical doctor, was arrested by police in Osun State on suspicion of murder and armed robbery.
According to reports, the suspect, who claimed to be a physician at one of Kwara State's government-owned hospitals, allegedly murdered the taxi driver he hired during a trip to Benin City, Edo State, in July 2022.
"The Edo State Police Command had sent a distress call to the Osun Command that a white coloured Toyota Camry car with registration number YA8368CN was stolen from Benin City and tracked to Osun State," said the command's spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, while parading the suspects on Tuesday, September 6.
The Police Command quickly put in place a security mechanism, and the car was intercepted along the Ejigbo/Ogbomoso road, with the occupant arrested.
During the preliminary investigation, the suspect claimed to be a medical doctor who worked in one of Kwara State's hospitals. In July, he traveled from Kwara State to Benin, Edo State, and met Emmanuel Oyiobo, a taxi driver whom he hired to drive him for the number of days he spent in Benin City.
Following that, the suspect and the deceased became friends, exchanged phone numbers, and have been in contact ever since. The suspect informed his friend (victim) in Benin that he wanted to sell his car, and they agreed that the suspect should bring the car to them.
"During his stay in Benin after selling his car, the suspect injected his friend (deceased) with a substance suspected of killing him on September 5, 2022. He then dumped his body in a nearby bush and fled with his white Toyota Camry muscle."
