Real Madrid cruised to a comfortable 4-1 win over RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League, extending their perfect home record to seven straight victories in all competitions this season.

It marked 100 days since Jose Mourinho's return for his second stint in charge, as Los Blancos welcomed Leipzig back to their Bernabeu fortress aiming to add to the visitors' European away-day woes.

Madrid fans hoping for an explosive start were left somewhat frustrated after a cautious opening, with Kylian Mbappe firing a cross-shot wide in one of the few clear chances early on. Martin Demichelis' side sensed an opportunity to land a sucker punch, and Thibaut Courtois had to produce a superb one-handed save to keep out Romulo Cardoso's left-footed effort.

Vinicius Junior was keen to make his mark in Europe amid his domestic ban, bursting down the left flank before seeing his shot palmed away by Maarten Vandevoordt.

The hosts still looked shaky at the back, with Courtois having to make himself big to deny Christopher Nkunku. Despite that, it was Real who broke the deadlock in the 44th minute.

Arda Guler met Federico Valverde's cutback with a shot that spun awkwardly away from Vandevoordt, and Bernardo Silva was there to slot home the rebound for his first goal as a Los Blancos player.

That breakthrough sparked Real's second just seven minutes after the restart. Guler applied the faintest of touches to turn the ball over the line after Mbappe nodded Jude Bellingham's cross back across goal.

Mbappe laughed with Guler after having his goal stolen on the line, but the French superstar did get on the scoresheet in the 83rd minute with a moment of individual brilliance, curling home superbly from the edge of the area.

Leipzig reduced the deficit two minutes later when Tidiam Gomis struck from close range, but there was still time for Yan Diomande to have the final word against his former club, sealing it with a thunderous right-footed volley.

That sealed a fourth straight win in all competitions for Real, who have now scored in 45 consecutive home games in the Champions League.

Leipzig, meanwhile, endured another difficult night on the road, as the defeat stretched their winless away run in the competition to eight matches, with six defeats in a row.
