Two of Europe's most prolific sides collide in Paris as PSG's unbeaten run meets Barcelona's record-breaking attack, with Lamine Yamal chasing history and goals all but guaranteed in this Champions League blockbuster.

A goal-filled Champions League classic is on the cards as Paris Saint-Germain host Barcelona at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday night.

The top two sides in the competition are set to collide in what looks to be the standout fixture of the round.

PSG vs Barcelona has turned into one of Europe's great rivalries over the last decade, and few will forget the famous remontada of 2017, when Barcelona pulled off an incredible comeback after losing 4-0 in the first leg.

Luis Enrique's Revenge

Luis Enrique, the mastermind behind that historic comeback, is now in charge of PSG and has had the upper hand against his former club in recent meetings between the two giants.

PSG have won their last two encounters with Barcelona, although only Bayern Munich have managed to secure three straight victories against the Catalan side in any version of the competition.

Bayern Munich are also the team PSG have faced most often in the European Cup/Champions League, with 17 meetings to date - seven wins for PSG, one draw and nine victories for the German side.

Tuesday's clash will be the 17th encounter between PSG and Barcelona, equalling the record, with both sides having claimed six wins each so far and the remaining four matches finishing level.

Star Power on Display

With Lamine Yamal and Ousmane Dembele involved, this tie features two of the finest players in world football, both continuing to rewrite the record books.

World Cup winner Ferran Torres will also have a quick opportunity to come back to haunt his old teammates after completing his move to Paris following the World Cup final, adding extra spice to the occasion.

Barcelona have been rampant in front of goal, hitting 39 times in just nine LaLiga games and adding another nine across their two Champions League fixtures. PSG edge them in the table only because they have managed 10 goals in their two European outings in 2026/27, which includes that 4-2 triumph at Manchester City.

Goals feel inevitable once again, with 264 goals having been scored in Champions League matches featuring either side since the beginning of the 2024/25 campaign.

Under Hansi Flick, Barcelona's Champions League games alone have produced 130 goals. Only PSG have seen more in that same spell, with 134.

And this head-to-head rarely disappoints for goals either, with 57 scored in the last 16 meetings between the clubs.

In fact, among fixtures played at least 10 times in the history of the European Cup and Champions League, only Ajax against Bayern Munich averages more goals per game at 3.9 than PSG versus Barcelona at 3.6.

Both Clubs Flying High

Since beating City, the French champions are now unbeaten in 12 Champions League matches, just one shy of their all-time best run.

They have also won their last six games in all competitions, bouncing back after a slow start to the 2026/27 season.

With Barcelona in even better form and arguably the in-form side in Europe right now, this will be PSG's toughest examination so far this season.

The same applies to Barcelona, who will have taken note of how PSG took apart Enzo Maresca's Manchester City side.

Where Enrique will need his team to be more alert than ever is Barcelona's ability to hurt opponents from all over the pitch.

If PSG focus too much on containing Lamine, for instance, Barca have more than enough quality to shift the threat elsewhere and still find a match-winner.

If he manages two assists in Paris, which is far from easy, Lamine would join Raul as the only players to register at least two assists in three straight Champions League games.

For a 19-year-old to be smashing so many records already while handling the pressure so effortlessly is truly remarkable.

The team have also scored at least four goals in four straight league-phase games, giving Barcelona the longest run of its kind in European Cup and Champions League history.

While Flick boasts the best goals-per-game average of any Barcelona manager in the Champions League at 3.0, he also holds the worst goals-conceded average at 1.6 among those who have taken charge of at least five games in the competition.

Raphinha is expected to start this one, with both teams looking as close to full strength as they can be.

A victory here won't secure passage to the next round, but it would send another clear message to the rest of the competition that they are the team to beat.

Buckle up, this could be a wild ride.
