French Open finalist Maja Chwalinska claimed her first WTA Tour title as she recovered from a slow start to beat Sonay Kartal 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 in the Wuhan Open final on Sunday.
The left-hander used a defensive right-handed lob to disrupt Kartal's rhythm and outwitted the Briton with changes of direction and winners into the corners.

Briton Kartal, ranked 170th in the world and the lowest-ranked finalist in WTA 1000 history, dominated the first set with powerful forehands as her Polish opponent's drop shots and slices repeatedly landed wide.
But 25-year-old Chwalinska, fresh from beating childhood friend Iga Swiatek, fought back in the second set, dragging Kartal into long rallies and earning three breaks to force a decider.
