Kompany, Neuer and Kimmich doubtful for Bayern's Champions League showdown...

Bayern Munich could be without head coach Vincent Kompany, first-choice goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and key midfielder Joshua Kimmich for their blockbuster Champions League clash with Arsenal on Wednesday, assistant coach Aaron Danks revealed on Tuesday.

Kompany has been dealing with a virus that has at times affected his legs, while Neuer has only just returned from a minor injury and Kimmich was absent from training for personal reasons, Danks told a press conference.

“Vince has had a virus, and it ‌is important for him to rest,” Danks said.

“So he is at home. We are taking it day by day. He will play his role in the game whether in the Allianz Arena or not.”

No decision has been made on Neuer's availability yet, Danks said, with the goalkeeper having returned to training over the past two days. Kimmich's involvement is equally uncertain.

“For Joshua, it is personal reasons. I am not sure what it means for tomorrow,“ Danks added.

Bayern, who are already without the suspended Michael Olise, are looking to bounce back in the competition following last week's 3-3 draw away to Viking in Norway, and head into the game on the back of a 6-1 thrashing of RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

“The key will be decided on small margins,” Danks said. “We have to be prepared for every aspect of the game.”

“We trust the process and the work we have done with the players in the last couple of seasons. We want them to play fearlessly and express themselves.”
