Monaco are back top of Ligue 1 after a hard-earned 1-1 draw away at in-form Strasbourg, who have now taken seven points from their last three matches.
The Ligue 1 leaders struggled early on in Strasbourg and didn’t manage a single shot on target in the first 20 minutes.
Monaco’s problems deepened with Soubeir forced off injured. They had most of the ball, but Diop and Reyna were excellent in the middle, constantly disrupting Monaco’s rhythm.
Strasbourg grew stronger after the 30-minute mark and were unlucky not to lead. Gessime Yassine dragged a left-footed effort from 12 yards just wide of the post.
That was one of five straight shots without reply, with Strasbourg on top as half-time neared. Filip Jorgensen had barely been tested in the Monaco goal.
The breakthrough came early in the second half. Sane, perfect with his passing up to that point, got his header all wrong from a free-kick and diverted it into his own net.
Monaco nearly hit back immediately. Jorgensen produced an acrobatic one-handed save to tip Paris Brunner’s powerful header onto the post.
The game then settled into a stalemate before Brunner broke it with something special. He picked the ball up in midfield, drove forward and fired an unstoppable 30-yard strike into the top corner.
Riding the wave, Monaco thought they’d snatched all three points in the 87th minute but the flag went up for offside.
🏁 C'est terminé à Strasbourg.

The point extends Strasbourg’s solid Saturday home record to one defeat in eight, with five wins and two draws. Meanwhile, Filipe Luis’ Monaco will have to settle for a point and their first game without a win this campaign.
