Former Czech League Best Defender Sorensen Joins FC Copenhagen

FC Copenhagen sign Asger Sorensen from Sparta Prague on 3-year deal. Copenhagen boost defense with signing of experienced Sorensen.

The Lions have completed the transfer of 30-year-old defender Asger Sorensen from Czech side Sparta Prague.  

Sorensen arrives after four years as a regular starter and vice-captain at Sparta. The 30-year-old will wear No.4 and has penned a three-year deal with FCK.

Sorensen left Denmark at 18 to join FC Liefering and built his reputation in Austria and Germany. He was a mainstay at FC Nürnberg before Brian Priske took him to Sparta Prague in 2022.  

Sorensen helped Sparta end a nine-year wait for the Czech title in his debut season. That year he was also voted the league’s Best Defender and Best Foreign Player.

Now he aims to bring that same standard to F.C. Copenhagen and help write the next chapter of the club’s history.

Speaking on the move, Sorensen explained: “For me, it’s not about coming home - it’s about ambitions and development. I have goals and dreams that I want to achieve, and I chose FC Copenhagen precisely because of my ambitions.”

“I’m hungry to play in Parken and in Europe, and I’m really looking forward to that. I know what the job requires, and I’m coming to Copenhagen to take responsibility. I want to contribute with experience, leadership and physicality, and I’m prepared for the hard work that lies ahead,” says Sorensen on the FC Copenhagen website.
