Haaland and Cherki hit doubles as Man City cruise past Crystal Palace.
Rayan Cherki netted twice after the break to fire Manchester City to a comfortable 4-1 win at Crystal Palace. The result stretches City’s unbeaten Premier League run against the Eagles to 10 games, 7 wins and 3 draws.
It was Pierre Sage’s first game in charge at Selhurst Park, and Palace almost had the perfect start. Eddie Nketiah forced an early save from Gianluigi Donnarumma with a shot across goal inside two minutes.
That woke City up, and they almost replied immediately. Elliot Anderson’s long-range effort was pushed away by Dean Henderson, and Haaland’s follow-up was then blocked from close range.
City weren’t to be kept out for long. In the 17th minute, Haaland opened the scoring with his first goal of the season, heading Antoine Semenyo’s inswinging cross into the top corner.
City were unbeaten in all 7 of their Premier League away games in London last term and should have made it 2-0 before the half-hour. Phil Foden spurned two golden chances inside the box.

City’s two-goal lead didn’t last long. Yéremy Pino curled a brilliant long-range free-kick against the post and off Donnarumma’s back to pull one back for Palace.
City weren’t fazed though, and restored their two-goal cushion before the hour. Cherki’s drive from outside the box took a deflection off Chris Richards and flew into the top corner.
That goal killed Palace’s hopes of a comeback. City then took control and handed debutant Ayyoub Bouaddi 10 minutes at the end.
Crystal Palace still carried a threat, and they came close to levelling before the break. Tyrick Mitchell met a cross with a free header at the back post but directed it wide.
City came out firing after the break and got their reward in the 54th minute. Foden found Cherki, who weaved past two defenders before slotting calmly past Henderson for 2-0.
Haaland added the icing on the cake late on, smashing Foden’s clever pass into the roof of the net to make it 4-1. The result also stretches Palace’s winless Premier League run to nine games.
