Munoz snatches late equaliser as Liverpool and Nottingham Forest share a 2-2 thriller.
Liverpool’s winless run in the Premier League stretched to six matches after they were pegged back by Nottingham Forest at Anfield. Forest remain without a win under new boss Oliver Glasner.
Both teams were frustrated on opening weekend. Liverpool needed a 99th-minute penalty to draw 1-1 at Newcastle, while Forest lost 2-1 to Leeds at the City Ground.
With that in mind, both sides saw this as the perfect opportunity to get their season going, and it showed in a lively first half.
Forest started the brighter and took the lead midway through the half. After Jacquet made a crucial save to deny Igor Jesus and Ndoye headed wide, the Swiss forward made no mistake with his next chance.
As he had been throughout the opening stages, Morgan Gibbs-White was at the heart of it, teeing up the Switzerland international to side-foot into the far corner.
Liverpool didn’t let the goal knock them and created a string of chances to get back on level terms.
Florian Wirtz looked Liverpool’s biggest threat and thought he’d scored on 30 minutes with a neat turn and finish, but the goal was disallowed for offside against Jeremie Frimpong in the build-up.
Wirtz went close again with a header that Matz Sels tipped over, while Victor Munoz missed a golden chance, dragging a shot wide from close range.
Forest reminded Liverpool of their danger right before half-time, but Alisson Becker produced a superb save to keep out Jesus’ first-time shot.
Both sides started the second half brightly but couldn’t carve out any clear chances.
That changed on the hour mark when Cody Gakpo picked the ball up on the right and squared for Alexander Isak, who tapped into an empty net from a couple of yards.
You’d have backed Liverpool to kick on, but 10 minutes later they were trailing again.
Forest’s club-record signing Liam Delap made an instant impact after coming on. His quick throw released Neco Williams, whose lob went wide, but Alisson then brought down the ex-Liverpool man and conceded a penalty.
Gibbs-White stepped up and converted to put Forest back in front.
Liverpool hit back though, and with just under 10 minutes to go they found another equaliser.
It was a first Liverpool goal for Victor Munoz, who smashed a powerful strike in off the bar to give the hosts hope of a winner.
Ultimately, Iraola’s side never looked likely to snatch all three points from there, and had to settle for a draw.

After two matches, Liverpool sit on just two points, hardly the start the new head coach would have wanted.
Forest will feel they let two points slip after leading twice, but there are positives for Glasner and his team to take.
