Arthur Fils beats Flavio Cobolli to reach first Masters 1000 final in Cincinnati. Fils Becomes Youngest French Masters finalist since Gasquet with win over Cobolli.

Fils fires past Cobolli into Cincinnati final...

Arthur Fils booked his spot in the Cincinnati final on Saturday, beating Flavio Cobolli 6-3, 6-4. The semi-final was held up for 45 minutes by rain and lightning.

The 22-year-old is into his first ever Masters 1000 final. He will now face the winner of the all-American semi between Brandon Nakashima and Frances Tiafoe.

Fils defeated the Roland Garros finalist for the third time to reach the final. At 22, he becomes the youngest Frenchman to make a Masters 1000 final since Richard Gasquet in Toronto 20 years ago.

Cobolli drew first blood, breaking Fils for 2-1 after a double fault. But the lead lasted one game as Fils broke straight back to love to make it 2-2.

Cobolli was broken again to go 5-3 down after Fils painted the corner. The Frenchman then served it out with a final winner 25 minutes into the match.  

Fils came out firing in the second and broke right away. He sealed the win with a fierce forehand winner down the line that Cobolli couldn’t touch.
