Taylor Fritz withdraws from Eastbourne to prioritise Wimbledon title bid...

In-form top seed Taylor Fritz has pulled out of the Eastbourne Championships. That ends his bid for a third straight title at the ATP grass-court event.

The American’s withdrawal follows news that Brazil’s Joao Fonseca, the No. 2 seed, also withdrew from the tournament.

“Unfortunately, I have to withdraw from Eastbourne ‌this year,” the American said ‌on X. “I waited up until after the match warmup to make the decision today because I really did want to play.

“This is never an easy decision for me, especially when it involves a tournament that means so much to ‌me. While I know it's the right call, it doesn't make it any less disappointing.”

The 28-year-old world No. 7 has lifted the Eastbourne trophy four times overall and will be tipped to go deep at the All England Club.

He’s looked sharp on grass this season already, making the final in both Halle and Stuttgart.
