FC Porto defender Jan Bednarek was reportedly caught up in a frightening incident after confronting an armed intruder at his home in Portugal on Friday night.
The Poland international had just returned with his wife and young daughter around 9:30 p.m. from an art exhibition when they allegedly found someone inside the property.
Portuguese outlet Record reports the suspect threatened Bednarek with a knife before escaping.
It’s reported the intruder made off with valuables worth about €150,000 (£129,000), leaving Bednarek’s family deeply shaken. Police have opened an investigation into the armed robbery.
The ordeal came only days after Bednarek scored the winner in Porto’s 1-0 win over Alverca, sealing the club’s first league title in four years.
