Galatasaray has confirmed that Victor Osimhen's surgery on his broken arm was successful. The Nigerian striker suffered a fractured right forearm during Galatasaray's Champions League match against Liverpool at Anfield.

Osimhen is expected to be out for around 5-6 weeks, missing key league games against Trabzonspor, Göztepe, Kocaelispor, and Gençlerbirliği. There's hope he could return for the Fenerbahçe derby on April 26.

Osimhen's pain proved too much, and he was substituted at half-time with significant swelling. Fenerbahçe's medical team did their thing, and the operation on Monday went smoothly.

“Our player Victor Osimhen, who was injured and unable to continue playing in our away match against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, underwent a successful operation today at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital, performed by our club doctor, Op. Dr. Yener Ince.

“We send our best wishes to our player and hope he returns to the pitch as soon as possible,” a statement from the club read.

No return date's been given yet, but Osimhen's looking at a month+ on the sidelines.

“Victor Osimhen, underwent a successful operation (on Monday). His recovery will be monitored daily, and our medical team will do everything necessary to ensure his return to the pitch as soon as possible. Updates will be shared with the public by our club throughout the process,” hinted Galatasaray doctor Ince.

Before surgery, Osimhen predicted his recovery timeline on a Twitch livestream with Carter Efe.

“It will take a maximum of five to six weeks. Six weeks at most, and I will be back to football,” he said.

“Most of the time, it’s four weeks, then two weeks for you to train alone, gradually regain your fitness, and then you join the team.

“I’m no stranger to situations like this. I’ve been through worse: I still have about 18 screws in my face from the previous operation, and I can’t even eat normally on the right side. This injury is just a minor thing compared to what I’ve been through.”

Osimhen's absence is a big hit for Galatasaray - 19 goals in 29 games this season. Fenerbahçe clash on April 26 looks like a tough one without him.
