Cambuur Leeuwarden returns to Eredivisie after 2022 relegation, FC Emmen miss out on promotion...
Cambuur Leeuwarden secured promotion to the Dutch Eredivisie with a 4-2 win away at FC Emmen on Tuesday evening. They became the second Keuken Kampioen Divisie side to earn a spot in the top flight.
Cambuur had a nail-biting experience just days before, though. Last Friday, they blew a 3-2 lead against Jong AZ, conceding a penalty and a late goal to lose their chance at clinching promotion early. The Frisians will be breathing a sigh of relief now.
Cambuur stormed to a 3-0 lead in the first 25 minutes, thanks to Ichim Ferrah and Fabian Kvam's brace in two minutes. FC Emmen pulled one back before halftime via Romano Postema, but Cambuur's momentum was unstoppable. Ferrah scored his second, a stunning long-range shot, to make it 4-1 after the break. FC Emmen's Freddy Quispel scored a late consolation, but it was all about Cambuur's celebration as they secured their Eredivisie spot.

Cambuur Leeuwarden is back in the Eredivisie after securing promotion from the Keuken Kampioen Divisie with a 4-2 win away at FC Emmen. This is a great achievement for the club, considering they were relegated in 2022, just two years after winning the second-tier title.
Last season, Cambuur reached the promotion play-offs but fell short, losing to FC Den Bosch in the first round after extra time. Now, they're looking to make a mark in the Eredivisie under manager Henk de Jong.
Henk de Jong made history as the first manager in Dutch football to achieve promotion to the Eredivisie three times with Cambuur. This Frisian coach has an impressive track record with Cambuur, having won the Keuken Kampioen Divisie title in 2013 and 2021.

With Cambuur securing a top-2 finish, one play-off spot is up for grabs, and it'll likely go to the 9th-placed team in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie. Since Jong PSV is excluded from the play-offs, FC Den Bosch is now in a strong position to grab that spot.
The Keuken Kampioen Divisie play-offs kick off on Tuesday, April 28th. The final, featuring the 16th-placed Eredivisie team, is set for two legs: May 20th and 23rd.
