Kansas City Chiefs Announce Marketing Rights in Spain, Paving Way for Potential Game
The NFL's Kansas City Chiefs are expanding their global reach with a new marketing deal in Spain, joining the Miami Dolphins and Chicago Bears in the country.
The Kansas City Chiefs, three-time Super Bowl finalists, have selected Spain as one of their international marketing territories. This strategic move could potentially lead to the Chiefs hosting a game in Spain in the near future, exciting Spanish NFL fans.
As part of the NFL's Global Markets Programme, the Chiefs join the Miami Dolphins and Chicago Bears in having priority marketing rights in Spain. This decision aligns with the Chiefs' goal of expanding their global presence, with Spain being an attractive market due to its growing fan base.
Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs' charismatic quarterback, may have played a role in the team's decision to focus on Spain. Mahomes had a memorable vacation in Marbella, which might have sparked the team's interest in the Spanish market. The Chiefs' remarkable success, including three titles since 2020, has contributed to their rapidly expanding fan base in Spain.
Building on their existing presence in Austria, Switzerland, Mexico, and Germany, the Chiefs aim to strengthen their brand in Spain. By doing so, they will tap into the country's burgeoning NFL fan base and further solidify their global reputation.
The Chiefs secured marketing rights through the NFL's Global Markets Program in three additional countries today, joining a group that already included Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Mexico.

A New Chapter for the Chiefs in Spain
Brett Gosper, NFL Director of Europe and Asia-Pacific, welcomed the Kansas City Chiefs to the Global Markets Programme in Spain, stating, “The Chiefs are a fantastic addition to the Global Markets Programme in Spain. With our first-ever regular season game in Madrid in 2025, we continue to prioritise our commitment to the market and growing our fan base. The Chiefs are a storied NFL franchise with big international ambitions and we are delighted that they will have a presence in Spain alongside the Bears and Dolphins.”
The Kansas City Chiefs organization expressed its enthusiasm for the new opportunity. Clark Hunt, the team's president and CEO, said, “We are thrilled to help bring the NFL and American football to Spain, starting as early as 2025. When my father, Lamar, founded the AFL, one of his goals was to introduce professional football to fans in new markets and share his love of the sport with fans across the country. We have never lost sight of that goal and are excited to continue his legacy by bringing American football and the Kansas City Chiefs to a new region like Spain.”
