Carlo Ancelotti reflects on Real Madrid's Copa Del Rey loss and vows to compete for the LaLiga title. Read more about his post-match comments.

Carlo Ancelotti expressed his disappointment after Real Madrid's 3-2 loss to Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final. He felt his team should have secured the win before conceding a late equalizer, which forced the game into extra time.

Real Madrid had fought back from a halftime deficit to take control, but Barcelona's Ferran Torres scored a crucial goal in the 84th minute, giving Barca new life. Ultimately, Jules Kounde sealed the win for Barcelona in extra time.

“We were close to winning and we conceded a strange goal very late ... A ball at the back of the defence ... But against Barca it can happen,” Ancelotti told a press conference in the early hours of Sunday.

“We tried until the end, we came close... The second half was very good, but that's football. The match was evenly balanced. Barca were better in the first half, we were better in the second.”

Real Madrid are reeling from a humbling loss to Arsenal, which saw them exit the Champions League quarterfinals. They're now fighting an uphill battle to retain their LaLiga title, with Barcelona leading the standings by four points. A crucial LaLiga match between the two teams is scheduled for May 11, which could determine the league champion.

“We have competed and we will also compete at Barcelona in the upcoming LaLiga game. We will compete like we did tonight,” Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti said, vowing to give it their all in the title-deciding match.

Carlo Ancelotti expressed his disappointment over not lifting the cup, but praised his players for their performance. “We have to keep competing for the league title. We played a level game and were very close to lifting the cup. I'm hurt for not being able to lift the cup, but I have nothing to reproach my players because we played the game we had to play.”

Ancelotti downplayed speculation about his future, particularly reports linking him to the Brazilian national team job. “I can go on, I can stop, but it will be an issue for the next few weeks, not today...”
