FG will introduce an online learning program for public employees.

Nigeria's Civil Service Goes Digital: FG Introduces E-Learning Platform for Public Employees. Cutting-edge tool to expand training opportunities, enhance knowledge, and prepare civil servants for promotion exams.

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, has unveiled plans to introduce an e-learning platform aimed at enhancing the capacity development of civil servants, ultimately leading to enhanced service delivery and improved productivity in the public sector.

Yemi-Esan emphasized how this cutting-edge tool would greatly expand the pool of civil officials eligible for the Structured Mandatory Assessment-Based Programme (SMAT-P) module and induction.

Furthermore, there would be simultaneous opportunities for federal personnel to participate in additional specialized courses.

“The objective of the e-learning platform is to train many more civil servants simultaneously,” she said. “We have modules that will ensure civil servants are well trained.”

Civil workers can self-train by using modules in the e-learning program, which integrates Information and Computer Technology (ICT), to improve their knowledge of the new Performance Management System (PMS) and get ready for promotion exams.

According to Yemi-Esan, the administration is dedicated to raising the country's civil service to international levels, which may be attained by providing personnel with ongoing training and retraining.

“This involves equipping the next generation with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in an increasingly complex work environment,” she stated.

She emphasized the considerable investments made in workforce training by the Nigerian Civil Service, its partners, and stakeholders, including the AIG-Imoukhuede Foundation.

By the end of 2025, the Federal Government intends to strategically deploy 500 public servants across many sectors as future leaders in the service and identify mentors among them.

Yemi-Esan addressed the absence of organized and focused training programs in the past and emphasized the significance of ongoing self-improvement for public servants as Nigeria concentrates on repositioning the industry.
