Tinubu Approves ₦500m For Minimum Wage Committee

A leaked document reveals President Tinubu's refusal to grant N1.8 billion to establish a tripartite committee consisting of 37 members to discuss the national minimum wage.



A memo sent to President Bola Tinubu by the Secretary to the government of the federation ( SGF) George Akume requesting for approval of funds for the inauguration of the tripartite Committee on new National minimum wage, is currently circulating on the social media.


The SGF's signature appeared on a leaked memo with file number 58957/S.I/T6/419 that requested approval for a one billion naira payment solely for the establishment of the new National Minimum Wage committee.


President Bola Tinubu received the memo on January 18, 2024.


The Director Information Office of the SGF has not yet responded to inquiries as of the time this report was filed.


The tripartite committee on the new National Minimum Wage was inaugurated on January 26, 2024
