APC Wins 38 Chairmanship Seats And The Ekiti LG Election


Candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) won all the 38 chairmanship and 177 councillorship seats in Saturday's council 



The All Progressive Congress (APC) won all 177 council seats and 38 chairmanships in Saturday's local government election in Ekiti state.


Elections were conducted throughout the state's 177 wards, in all 16 local government areas, and in 22 local council development areas.


The Ekiti state Independent Electoral Commission, Justice Cornelius Akintayo rtd, announced the results on Sunday, December 3, in Ado-Ekiti. He stated that the ruling APC had won all 177 councilor seats and 38 chairmanships in the state.

Akintayo commended the people of Ekiti for their composure both during and after the election, stating that the results were in compliance with the state's electoral laws.


He also complimented the eight political parties who ran in the election for their sportsmanship and the professionalism of the electoral officials in running the poll.


The African Democratic Party Party, New Nigerian People's Party, Action Alliance Action Democratic Party, Labour Party, People's Redemption Party, and Zenith Labour Party are among the parties running on the ballot.


The People Democratic Party (PDP) and the Social Democratic Party, which form the main opposition, abstained from the local government election.
