WHY BUHARI SHOULD FREE NNAMDI KANU BEFORE THE END OF HIS TERM - OHANAEZE PRESIDENT, IWUANYANWU
Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to free Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, before the end of his mandate.
Kanu, according to Iwuanyanwu, should be released to care for his worsening health.
Speaking in Enugu yesterday, the elder statesman stated that if Kanu is released, Nigerians will be relieved.
While Kanu is detained, Iwuanyanwu believes the Southeast will find it difficult to reach an agreement with the Federal Government.
Iwuanyawu claims that: "It is also important to note that the judiciary has discharged and freed Nnamdi Kanu. It will be the joy of many Igbo people and Nigerians to see Kanu released from detention.
"There is also a report that his health is deteriorating. I feel it is important that he is released to have access to his medical doctors so that he does not die in prison."
Kanu has been detained by the Department of State Services (DSS) since he was caught in Kenya and deported to Nigeria in 2022.
