Shehu Sani, a former legislator, has criticized the country's high unemployment rate.

Sani remarked that as a result of unemployment, many Nigerian youths have resorted to seeking advanced degrees.

On Monday, the social critic aired his displeasure in a tweet from his verified Twitter profile.

Remember that an international consulting firm, KPMG, predicted that the Nigerian jobless rate will grow to 37.7 percent in 2022 and then to 40.6 percent.

According to KPMG, this is due to the ongoing influx of job searchers into the labor market.

Sani stated during the "Workers' Day" celebration that unemployment prompted many young people to pursue postgraduate degrees.

He wrote, "Unemployment has forced so many youths to pursue masters and Doctorate degrees.

Happy #MayDay2023."
