Residents' Reactions To Adeleke's Victory In Osun [VIDEO]


Following the Supreme Court's confirmation of Gov. Ademola Adeleke as the victor of the state's July 16 governorship election, residents from Osogbo, Ede, and other significant towns in Osun poured into the streets, chanting and dancing.


Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party was confirmed as the state's governor earlier on Tuesday, according to reports from the Supreme Court.

Residents were reportedly spotted celebrating the Supreme Court decision in convoys of vehicles carrying the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag at Dada Estate and Lameco roundabout in Osogbo, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).


Adedeji Oluwafemi, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, expressed optimism that Adeleke will be declared the winner in an interview with NAN before to the court's decision.


Oluwafemi said: "The Court of Appeal judgement and the Supreme Court, which is the apex court of the land, have indeed restored hope to every Osun citizen.


"With the conclusion of litigation, the governor will now settle down and focus on human and capital development that will add value to the state and the lives of its people.


"He has done credibly well since his inauguration as Governor of Osun, and I believe he will do better than what many expect."


Additionally, Mr. Samuel Efunkunle, a PDP supporter, expressed joy with the Supreme Court's decision and prayed to God to give Gov. Adeleke the wisdom and expertise he needs to run the state effectively.


To ensure that the current government works better than the prior one, Efunkunle urged the assistance of all state stakeholders.


In a same vein, residents of Rinsayo Estate in Osogbo, Mrs. Mary Ogundayo and Miss Comfort Adeyemi, hailed God for the Supreme Court decision upholding Adeleke's triumph.


They made an appeal to All Progressives Congress (APC) members in the state to work with Governor Adeleke to ensure that the state achieves grandeur.


NAN also claims that a few market vendors showed up at the Dada Estate market and started dancing and singing happy songs in celebration of Gov. Ademola Adeleke's victory being upheld by the Supreme Court.
